CALDER-SAVILE Probus Club was founded in 1980 and extended by amalgamation in January 2006. Club membership numbers increased in Sept 2018 when the Halifax Probus Club closed its doors and several members from that Club joined our Calder-Savile Club. At present we have about 40 members of whom 30 or so attend regularly every Tuesday. We pride ourselves on promoting good fellowship, and the Tuesday morning meeting allows us time to chat and relax with a cup of coffee before the talk.
We receive weekly informative talks and interesting illustrated presentations on all sorts of topics (see speakers’ list) including from outside speakers and from our own members – but no-one from our own membership is obliged to give a talk unless they are entirely comfortable in doing so.
Venue
We meet every Tuesday morning (except public holidays) at St. Jude’s Church Hall, Savile Park, Halifax at 9.30 a.m. for coffee or tea, with a speaker at 10.15 and finish at 11.30. The Hall is in the Church grounds and and includes a private car park. There is also plenty of street parking close to our location.

Membership costs £30 per year with a small entrance fee each week to cover refreshment costs and speakers’ fees.
Each year we have a Christmas and Easter lunch with partners and friends at an outside venue such as Southwood or Brighouse Golf Club (see sample menus). We usually have a trip out in summer to a place of interest.
We have a President (elected every year), regular club officers and a committee which meets 3 or 4 times a year, and enables the Club to run its affairs smoothly.
